Game!

Here's the second picture for the game!

One guess, please! But if you haven't guessed on the first picture-post, you can go back and enter a second guess there.
Remember it's one guess per picture, so if you did guess on the first post, you can guess again.

Also, proof of how carried away I am:
Squiby Profile
No need to click any - just look for fun... my whole life is like this. A zillion stories, a zillion craft projects, a zillion online pets... *headdesk*
*edit* I was wrong, Jade doesn't have another level. There are two versions XD
So... I irritate you more! Bwahahaha!

PS - 'Night Owls' is currently at 17,500 words. Next chapter will be posted at 20,000 words... Chapter Four of any story is always my biggest stumbling block; I usually lose interest for a week to a month. I dunno why. But not this time! I will not be defeated! :P *gets back to work*

The Paul Fund

As a bunch of you saw on me post a few days ago, my friend Paul was in a pretty brutal assault this past weekend.  Although Paul is one of the least confrontational people I've ever met (he wouldn't hurt a fly), one of his acquaintances instigated a confrontation, and Paul got caught in the middle of it.  This guy (who still hasn't been caught) punched Paul in the face while holding a blade.  It took 150 stitches to put Paul's face back together, but that's only the start of his problems.

The story made the local news, HERE.

He's recovering well, but despite working almost-full-time, he doesn't have health insurance.  He doesn't know I'm doing this, but I'm taking donations to help him cover the hospital bills.  It's not just the ER visit - he needed a facial surgeon for this.  The hospital will work with him to an extent, but it's going to be hellishly expensive, and I know his budget is tight already.

Just to give you a bit of information... as most of you know, this is a fandom LJ.  Paul is one of us.  He's a geek, a fellow fandomer, and a die-hard sci-fi fan, especially Star Trek.  He's the buddy I hang out with all the time to watch TOS episodes and geek out over fanfic.  He doesn't have internet right now (I told you, his budget is TIGHT), so I print out fanfic for him.  But yeah, he's one of our own, and he needs a bit of help.

I've set up a PayPal account.  I'd like to thank everyone who has already donated.  We're up to $145.  THANK YOU.  I'm going to transfer the money to a bank account and give Paul a check on Monday.  I'll post here on my LJ with the total amount we collect.

The e-mail for the PayPal account is faisons(at)gmail(dot)com.  If you can help out with as little as $5, it adds up.  It's a shame we live in a country where honest, hard-working folks can get injured through no fault of their own, and STILL end up OWING money as a result!  But I guess that's why we have to look out for each other.

Again, thanks to all who donated, and thank you to anyone who decides to donate.

EDITED TO ADD:  I was trying to figure out how much I should throw in the pot.  I've decided that I'll match the top donation plus $10.  At the moment, the top donation is $50 (I won't name names, but hun, that was amazing of you - THANK YOU), so I'm putting in $60.  You guys are all amazing, and it's people like the fandom folks I know who give me faith in humanity again.  ♥

FILKERS... WILL... MEME

Yesterday, in the Clash of the Titans thread, the new catchphrase (Moist: "Is that the new catchphrase?") from the trailer, "TITANS... WILL... CLASH", prompted [info]devospice to respond: "AUDIENCES... WILL... SNORE...". Then [info]redneckgaijin started riffing on it:
STARS... WILL.. WAR.

SHAWSHANKS... WILL... REDEEM.

HUDSUCKERS... WILL... PROXY.

APOLLO... WILL... 13.

GOOD... WILL... HUNTING.
This struck me as hilarious. So let's play.
  • BOURNES... WILL... CONSPIRE.
  • ROCKYS... WILL... BALBOA.
  • CITIES... WILL... SIN.
  • MEN... WILL... IRON.
  • Nothing seemed to work right, but there's gotta be a double involving STARRING... WILL... SMITH. (Jayzus. IMDB says he's not only working on sequels to I, Robot and Hancock [okay, I liked Hancock] but a prequel to I Am Legend.)
Have at it. Keep it to maybe five.

The Children of My Soul, Chapter Five

This is a very short chapter, but it's meant to be that way.  You can expect these between each of the 'Children.'  Hope you enjoy, anyway.

Veterans' Armistice Remembrance

Whatever you call the day, it's dedicated to the appreciation of those who have defended our land, our people, and our freedom.

To all of you, past, present, and future: Thank you. Thank you for giving of yourselves -- of your talents, your passion, your blood, your lives. And please do not take it as a slight when I say: Someday I hope your jobs become unnecessary.

Peace.

Re-Flop Of The Meatloaf?

Ray Harryhausen's last film, Clash of the Titans, was... kinda sad, really. Cast from hell, script from there too, and SFX which looked unbelievably dated next to Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and even the original Battlestar Galactica. Harry Hamlin's first big role, as a gay lawyer who turned out to be a Greco-Roman hero. Or something. Sir Laurence Olivier, gumming the scenery. An interesting and tragic character, Caliban, utterly undermined by the obvious swap-outs of the real actor and the stop-motion figure. A flying R2D2 named after a swollen lymph gland.

My gaming buddy Peter Christian referred to it at the time as Flop of the Meatloaf, and that's stuck with me ever since. It's not that I dislike it; it's just... there.

Thus the news that it was being remade was met, on my part, with a confused shrug. I have learned, however, never to underestimate the lack of brains, taste, or originality in greenlighting Hollywood filmage. The new version is all CGI and breathtaking landscapes with lens flare and dirty armor and yelling and slo-mo (instead of "bullet time", maybe we should call it "arrow time" or "slingstone time", except that leads to "swing time", "swing parade", and "swing choir" and we're back to Harry Hamlin as a gay lawyer). Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, a lot of guys who look as if they're about to tell me This... Is... Spartaaaaaaaa.

Anyway. This mythic adventure opens March 26, 2010, and it goes a little something like this.

Thoughts?

Does anybody know...

...why these:
Have such a long space after them?  Is there anyway I can get rid of it?

I'm using this post as a test-post, so... it may often look weird.

Sarah is fully levelled up now! Yay!

Treize again

Still writing very, veeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyy slowly.

About the Treize name thing - mainly I need to know how his servants/household would refer to him if they were speaking about him when he wasn't there.

Now, I've read a lot of Agatha Christie books, and seems like older servants, who had been there for awhile - and these have - in England, at least, mostly called their employers 'Master'.  Would it fit in for them to call them Master Treize and Master Zechs (or Master 'Last Name?'  and never actually refer to a title, at least not for now.

Do you guys think Jade has another level?  He doesn't quite look grown up to me - though I could be wrong!

If these get on your nerves, feel utterly free to ignore them!  I just get addicted easily.  You guys should see my Wajas cave... *headdesk*

♦ sarah's note → In discovering post-rock, thanks to miimi, I inevitably came across eksperimentoj. A band of three members eksperimentoj released only one album in 2007 before disappearing. According to their website though they have resurfaced but whether or not they will release new material has yet to seen.

For the moment we must content ourselves with eksperimentoj self-titled album. The album itself packs a huge of amount of gorgeous post-rock music which blends melancholy rock sounds with a deep impact. The lyrics are completely in English and are perfect sung by vocalist Eugene. The music itself creates an atmosphere depending on which song you listen to. I find myself particularly drawn the song "note" which drives it's melody creating a frantic sound to it. I honesty cannot recommend this album enough. Please give it a try!

Jade is adorable right now!!!

Oh, and I did actually get some work done on Claiming yesterday.  2 more pages and I'll post it.  It may be a little choppy, but my brain doesn't work well enough right now to fix that.
Maybe I should send it to noreen first?
